Our Homeless Outreach meets Monday–Friday from 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
This dear ministry is very close to our hearts. It closes the gap between the homeless person and the rest of society. Our homeless outreach embraces the homeless person who has given up all harmful addictions and yet is cut off from society because of homelessness. We engage to pull these homeless people into the Light of Jesus for salvation and a normal lifestyle.
Our homeless outreach serves hot coffee throughout the week, prayers, encouragement through Biblical scriptures, nonperishable foods, clothes, a safe location from danger, and any immediate needs that the homeless person may have. We meet these needs and encourage the homeless community to connect with Campus Church in Pensacola, FL., as their new spiritual church family.
We provide small volunteer work through our donation center for homeless people to keep them busy while looking to work or while waiting for assistance. Our goal for every homeless person is to guide them to the salvation and Knowledge of Jesus and gradually help them leave the homeless lifestyle.
Please keep this ministry in your prayers and donate at heavenshiningstars.com/donate. We would love it if you visited our center at 4500 N Palafox St, Pensacola, FL 32526, to volunteer. Contact us at (850)466-5284 for more questions.
Recent Updates
- Our New Homeless Outreach Area
This summer, The Light Bible Ministries took on a challenge of Faith to build an addition to our ministry. After ministering in the front parking lot of our center where many homeless people stop by each day for prayer, a word of encouragement from the Bible, coffee, clothes, shoes, and other material needs, the Lord laid it on our hearts to build an area where the homeless community can come for consistent spiritual growth. This project started with faith as big as a mustard seed and fervent daily prayers. The Lord moved mountains and miracles began to happen. JLS concrete construction by Mr, Lilly, Campus church interns, Robbie Smalls, American Tile & Hardscape LLC by Mr. & Mrs. Bautista, Jansens tiles and bath, SRM Smyrna ready mix concrete provided supplies and their labor to complete our homeless outreach project. The Lord favored our efforts and now a body of believers within the homeless community have a place to come and grow spiritually whiles they work towards coming out of homelessness. With our new designated homeless area and room where homeless women can come and learn to grow in the word of God and receive mentoring, we give praise, glory and honor to God for the work and fruit that he will continue to do in a more effective way. We also renovated a donation center where the homeless can receive job training with the goal to start working to come out of homelessness. Lastly, this new homeless designated area leaves better security for our children’s bible activities which runs all week. Thank you to all our supporters who consistently continues to pray, support and invest in our community for the glory of God.
- Church at the Homeless Camp
Most Homeless people do not feel welcome at church for different reasons because they feel like they do not look the part to be amongst people of God inside such clean buildings when they do not think clean themselves. The Lord put it on Mr. Russell Corp’s heart (our Homeless outreach lead) to take the church to the homeless camp. He obeyed the Holy Spirit and brought the church to the homeless camp. About seven churches in Pensacola got together and ministered to the homeless community as chains of sin fell off and heartbreak found restoration through Jesus Christ. Because Mr. Corp obeyed the calling of the Lord, the captive was set free in Jesus right there inside the homeless camp. It was a blessing ministering to several homeless friends, especially a good friend struggling in a relationship. God wiped all his tears away, and hope is now ahead for him.
Isaiah 61—”The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
- Living in the Likeness of Jesus as His Hands and Feet
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. —Matthew 25:35–36
- I was lost and now I am found
Testimony by: Mr. Richard Goble
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. —Luke 19:10My name is Richard. About 4 months ago I had basically nothing. No shelter, food and clothes on my back. My feet and ankles were in bad condition. I lived in the woods near “The Light Ministries”. I was earning alcohol from a person that also lived in the woods by cleaning the camp area. The person also gave me some kind of drug that looked like broken glass which I ate and it gave me a dreamy energy high. I also was shoplifting alcohol. In walking past “The Light Ministries,” my curiosity was stirred when I saw a “stop in for Prayer” sign on the building. I felt like there is still some hope somewhere in my soul and sure enough that’s when Joanna called out “are you hungry?”
We prayed together , she gave me food. I told her I was not happy and she said “ God loves you so much, please don’t go back to the woods.” I NEVER DID. Since then, she gave me a tent safe beside her Light building. I stayed there briefly, then three months in waterfront mission chronic homeless 24/7 program. With visits and prayers from Joanna and members from her church including Pastor Winn and Mr.Rushing and prayers from her Sunday school class, I am now at a veterans housing efficiency 1bedroom apartment, attending church regularly, studying the Bible, soon will be a member along with being baptized. I recognize that God works through people. Glory to God!!!
- Mr. Juan Bautista devoted many hours to build two spaces for our donation center.
We had many homeless men and women who came by to pray, study the Word of God, receive clothes, food, shoes, and other necessary daily needs. Many hearts were convicted by the word of God and change was made in people like Allyssa, Marcus, Reva and Roger’s life.
Two small shed buildings were added to the center by Mr. Juan Bautista, a former homeless man who now preaches the word of God in the Pensacola community and owns his own construction company. Mr. Juan Bautista devoted many hours this summer to build these two spaces for our donation items to be stored at the center. Many other renovations were made and many other renovations still needs to be made.
